REAL TALK from a REAL GRANDMASTER! jeff has been doing it to it for quite sometime. we all love and respect flash for all his contributions to the art, but a lot of his performances these days have been uneven, not bad, but not great either. is it time to put jeff up on that mountain ahead of flash? i love the way jeff came across, he stated his case without being a braggart or trying to demean anyone. he stated he likes his turntables, but many of his performances are done using dvs-serato. such a contrast to some of these yahoos that get on these forums using dvs and wanna talk like they invented something and trying to put people who use other platforms down with that "real dj" horseshit. i would listen to anything jeff had to say cause he has earned the respect, and what the hell do you know, he is showing respect for other dj's and different ways of doing things. some of these so called turntable guys need to watch this, and learn how to be respectful while stating their preference.

true that! jazzy jeff! why do we pro dj's cost so much more than just your dj that just has a laptop! theres more to it! the value and professional equipment ,the professinal service and when u leave your fans calling you back for more gigs because you gave them a good dj set that leaves them memories that's priceless! well spoken jazzy jeff

Theres so many different types of djs also and that are unique and I believe ppl are starting to listen to them. And its deff opening up a whole new world which is great.
-
I think there still is a problem with djs networking.
-
They shouldve ended his interview with him flying out tue door. Lol

Never have truer words been spoken. Jeff summing it up very nicely and in a swift manner.

quick history lesson... in the 1970's and up there was a genre of music in the US called "disco" which featured a keyboard that was new to the scene then called a "synthesizer" early hiphop DJs use to spin these records in the club especially a part called the "breakbeat" hence the phrase "B-Boy" .. all the while a group called the "soul sonic force" and another guy named "music instructor" made records purely with electronic instruments 1980- present.. so who is behind? lmao

Few DJs have been able to stay relevant for three decades and DJ Jazzy Jeff is one of the rare exceptions. DJcityTV recently caught up with him at Red Bull Thre3style's BBQ at Scratch DJ Academy to ask him some questions. Despite being revered by almost every DJ in the game, Jeff maintains a humble attitude and dropped a wealth of knowledge. Watch him discuss the rise of dance music and DJing, how to stay relevant, and more.
